About CMU ATBI

Musuan PEAK Incubator

Brief Background

Central Mindanao University (CMU) is one of the leading universities in agriculture, forestry, and other related fields. Its function in research brought about innovation and technologies that need to be commercialized. The Technology Business Incubation (TBI) program is one of the strategies identified by the Department of Science and Technology-Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (DOST-PCAARRD) to promote innovation and technopreneurship for the country’s socio-economic development in a knowledge-based world economy.

This initiative is in response to the Philippine Technology Transfer Act of 2009 under Republic Act No. 10055. This act Provides the Framework and Support System for the Ownership, Management, Use, and Commercialization of Intellectual Properties Generated from the Research and Development funded by the Philippine Government and for other purposes.

The DOST-PCAARRD and CMU paved the way towards this initiative through CMU-Agri-Aqua Technology Business Incubator (CMU ATBI) through its project DOST-PCAARRD National Agri-Aqua Technology Business Incubation Program.

The CMU Board of Regents (BOR) approved the institutionalization of CMU ATBI through the revised CMU Policy on Intellectual Property, Technology Transfer, and Commercialization by BOR Resolution 45, s. 2020. Under Article 6 of the revised policy, the Intellectual Licensing Office (IPLO) was renamed Intellectual Property and Technology Business Management (IPTBM).
